Why use a studio, not just a photographer
Controlled lighting
In a studio environment, lighting is predictable and adjustable. This means products look the same from shot to shot, portraits feel consistent, and nothing is left to chance.
Consistency over time
If you need to return months later for additional images, a studio setup allows your photography to match what already exists. That consistency is difficult to achieve when every shoot happens in a different location.
Better use of your time
Because the studio is already set up for photography, sessions run smoothly. Less time is spent setting up and troubleshooting, and more time is spent capturing what you actually need.
Professional oversight throughout
Every session is managed and supported, with the studio, equipment and process looked after from start to finish. This keeps things running smoothly and removes unnecessary pressure from the shoot.
Built for commercial outcomes
The focus is always on producing usable images. Photography here is about delivering assets that work hard for your business, not just creating images that look good on the day.

How it works
A simple, structured production process
Book a studio session
We start by booking a session length that suits your project. If you are unsure what you need, we will help you decide based on the type of photography and the number of assets required.
Prepare for the shoot
Ahead of your session, we take time to understand what you want to achieve. This allows us to prepare the studio, lighting and approach in advance, so the shoot runs smoothly.
For product photography, items can be dropped off ahead of time or brought with you on the day. For portraits or shoots involving people, you will attend the session as normal.
The studio session
Shoots can be attended or handled on your behalf, depending on the project.
Many clients enjoy being involved in the session, while others prefer to leave everything with us and return later. Both options are common, and we will guide you on what makes the most sense.
Contact sheet and image selection
After the shoot, you will receive a contact sheet showing a selection of the images captured. This allows you to review the results and choose the images you would like us to take forward for final editing.
Professional editing and delivery
Your selected images are professionally edited and prepared for use across web, marketing and commercial channels. Final files are supplied in a clear, usable format, ready to be put to work.
Packages and pricing guidance
Every photography session at Luminary is run as a managed studio shoot. In most cases, this includes both a photographer and an assistant, which allows the session to run smoothly and ensures details are spotted as the shoot progresses.
This setup tends to produce better results and a more relaxed experience for everyone involved. In some situations, smaller shoots can be handled differently, but we will always recommend the approach that delivers the strongest outcome.
Rather than fixed packages, sessions are priced based on time, complexity and what you need to produce. This keeps things flexible while still giving you clarity from the outset.
As a guide, pricing typically reflects:
- Studio time, based on session length
- A photographer and assistant managing the shoot
- Professional editing of selected images
- Any additional requirements, such as 360 product photography or enhanced retouching
Once we understand your brief, we will confirm the most suitable setup and provide clear pricing before the session goes ahead.

Our approach
The studio works best when there is a clear idea of what you want to achieve, but the sessions themselves don’t need to feel formal or rigid. Some shoots are carefully planned in advance, while others are more relaxed and conversational.
Our role is to make sure the studio, lighting and setup are taken care of, so you can focus on the shoot and feel comfortable in the space. If you are unsure how structured your session needs to be, we will help guide you.

FAQs
How do I request a session with you?
Can I bring products or people to the shoot?
Do I need to stay in the studio during the shoot?
You are very welcome to stay if you’d like to be involved. Some clients prefer to be part of the process, especially for portraits and brand work. Others choose to drop products off and let us handle everything. Either option works, and we’ll help you choose the best approach.
How long does a session take?
Session length depends on the type and scale of your shoot. We’ll help you choose a session length that matches your needs when we confirm the details. If you’re unsure, just mention that in your request.
Will there be a photographer and assistant available?
Yes. Our standard setup includes a photographer and an assistant. This ensures the session runs smoothly, with multiple people spotting details and supporting the shoot. For smaller projects, we’ll talk through what staffing makes most sense.
When and how do I choose my final images?
Is editing included?
Yes, professional editing of selected images is included. We deliver finished images that are ready for your commercial use. We do not provide raw files as part of the standard deliverables, since your business will be using final assets, not unprocessed files.
Can the same session include 360 product photography?
Yes, if you want interactive 360° product imagery alongside your still photographs, let us know in your session request. We’ll factor that into the setup and session planning.
How should I prepare for a portrait photography session?
We have a dedicated guide to help you prepare for portrait sessions — with tips on how to plan outfits, feel comfortable, and get the most out of your time in the studio. You can review it here: Preparing for your portrait photoshoot.
This resource can help you feel confident and ready, especially if it’s your first studio experience.
Is parking available nearby?
What about disabled access?
The studio space is upstairs, and due to the age of the historic building, there aren’t any lift facilities, so anyone using the studio will need to be comfortable using stairs.
What happens if I need to change or reschedule?
We understand that plans can change. Just let us know as soon as you can and we’ll help rearrange your session. Because we schedule staffing and studio time around your booking, earlier notice makes adjustments easier.
